i How it works

1. What Retirely is
Retirely is a retirement news site published by Retirely LLC. We publish original reporting, articles from independent contributors, and a running feed of retirement, markets and personal finance news from other publishers. We are a small operation, and this page explains how we work so you can judge what you read here.

2. Original reporting
Our own articles are published under the name of the person who wrote them. Any article whose point is that we checked the numbers is verified against primary sources before it goes out: the statute, the agency page, the official filing, not somebody else’s write-up of it. If we cannot trace a statistic to a primary source we leave it out, however often it is repeated elsewhere.

3. Contributors
Some articles are written by outside contributors, mostly financial professionals writing under their own names. A contributor’s views are their own. Publishing a contributor is not an endorsement of that person, their firm or their products, and nothing they write here is investment advice.

4. News from other publishers
Much of the news on our homepage comes from other publishers. For those stories we show the headline, a short excerpt and a link to the original article on the publisher’s own site, and the credit tells you where the story came from. Where a publisher prefers, we show a summary only. Where we publish a full article from another publisher, it is under a syndication agreement with that publisher and the article says so.

5. Sponsored and paid content
Some of what you see on Retirely is paid for. Publishers and advertisers can pay to have their articles and offers shown to Retirely readers, and some articles are written by financial professionals who pay to be featured. Paid articles carry a Sponsored label at the top, and we are applying that label to older paid articles as well. A sponsored article is the sponsor’s view, not ours, and paying to be on Retirely does not buy a say in our own reporting. If you want to know whether a specific article was paid for, ask us at [email protected] and we will tell you.

6. Advertising
Retirely runs display advertising from Google and from Dianomi. Advertising is how the site stays free to read. Those ads are served by the ad networks, are marked as ads, and have no influence on what we cover or how we cover it.

7. Corrections
We make mistakes. If you spot one, tell us in the comments or at [email protected]. When we get something wrong we fix the article and note the correction in it. Readers have caught errors here before and we have thanked them publicly for it.

8. Comments
Comments are open on our articles and we read them. We remove spam and abuse. We do not remove comments for disagreeing with us.

9. How we use AI
We use AI tools to help research, check and draft our own articles. A person decides what we cover, checks the facts, and reviews every original article before it is published under their name.

10. Financial information, not advice

RETIRELY IS NOT A REGISTERED INVESTMENT ADVISOR AND DOES NOT GIVE INVESTMENT, TAX OR LEGAL ADVICE. NOTHING ON THIS SITE IS A RECOMMENDATION TO BUY OR SELL ANYTHING. TALK TO A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL ABOUT YOUR OWN SITUATION BEFORE YOU ACT ON ANYTHING YOU READ HERE.

The advisor directory is compiled from public Form ADV filings with the SEC and may be out of date. Check a firm at adviserinfo.sec.gov before relying on a listing. Market prices shown on the site may be delayed.
